Starting back up

We had such a lovely break over the holidays. Most of the activities that the girls are in stopped for several weeks. They came back with a vengeance though and that has been what we are up to lately.

On Monday, Livi started speech again through the college. Graduate students get to 'practice' on kiddos who need services and it is at a reduced rate. Livi's student is male this semester and has a lovely presence about him--very patient, very willing to play 'shopping' with the grocery store toys repeatedly and kind enough to allow Livi some control while redirecting her. I had to laugh on Wednesday when they were playing BBQ.

He said "okay, we've grilled our patties, now what do we do?"

Livi promptly responded, "we get the wine!"

"What?"

"Wine"

"Did you say wine?"

"yes"

"Well, we can have some pretend wine..."

Hmmm....

Jocelyn started her vocal academy this week. She loved it! I look forward to hearing the small performance in mid-March and seeing what new skills she takes away from this.

After the vocal academy on Tuesday night, we rushed to Jesse auditorium to take the girls to see the "Wizard of Oz". It is a traveling company that is booked to perform. The girls loved it. Livi was having a "very tough day" (as she would say. We would certainly agree with that sentiment as it was a downright MISERABLE day...fighting, arguing, crying, you name it). We were very close to not taking her to the play at all because we were really convinced by her behavior the rest of the day that she would not sit still or quietly. Anyway, she hardly made a peep. The performance didn't start until 7pm so it was pretty late when we got home. One thing we have going for us at our house is a strict 8pm bedtime. Missing it on the weekends is not too bad, but during the week, they depend on it. Overall, they did good this week and really enjoyed seeing the performance. It was a highlight during the week.
