Last weekend we drove to Cole Camp for the annual fair. I forgot my camera....We got to visit with family and the girls watched most of the parade and rode a few rides. We got rained out on Saturday night so it was early. Sunday we got to enjoy a great birthday party for Maya's big #1 birthday.
This week we have a little bit of new stuff going on...Olivia started gymnastics last week. It went really well! I was hesitant to write about it last week as I figured it would be one-time of good behavior and then it would be done, but so far it has lasted 2 weeks. She is delayed with her balance, but Jason said that there was marked improvement from the beginning to the end of class (adjusting/etc.). She can do a forward roll by herself and got assistance with a backward roll; she hung on a bar; went on the balance beam forward, side-to-side and crawling; she also also walked through a pit of sponge squares. Jason said that she did a good job of listen and watching the other kids--he said he knew she didn't always understand what they told her but would watch the other kids and followed cues well.
Our next piece of news is that we have signed Olivia up for a regular preschool. We will begin in October. She will be in a class with 20 students and 2 teachers. She will attend this preschool full-time and will still attend the early childhood special education preschool on Monday-Wednesday-Friday afternoon. We are doing both so that she continues to get support and therapy, but we also get an idea of what she needs to be ready for kindergarten. We have her IEP meetings in March and need to know what she will need for kindergarten by then. Needless to say, I'm pretty nervous about this change. I did have a small conversation with her tonight about how she was doing such a great job being a big girl that she would start at a 'bigger school' soon. She smiled so that is hopefully a good sign.
Jocelyn is still doing Taekwondo and seems to love it. She is getting more assertive with her moves and looks pretty cute in her uniform. She also starts calling me "ma'am" as soon as we get close so that's not too bad either. I tried to get some pictures of her in uniform/etc. but she was "not in the mood to do that today" as she did not get to attend a fun night that she wanted to...(you gotta love that).
